Jeanne Detallante

Jeanne Detallante

Have you ever wondered about the creative mind behind some of the most iconic illustrations in the fashion and art world? Wendy Guns had the privilege of meeting Jeanne Detallante, a Parisian illustrator and visual artist based in Brussels, through a mutual contact within the artistic community. Their initial encounter sparked a mutual admiration for each other's work, leading to a fruitful collaboration.

Discovering a Shared Passion

During their first meeting, Wendy and Jeanne found a common ground in their love for art and design. Jeanne's fascination with tapestries and the art of carpet weaving resonated with Wendy's appreciation for intricate designs. The synergy between their creative visions was evident from the start, fostering a strong bond built on trust and respect.

The rug New Garden of Eden

A new contemporary interpretation of an old Persian "Garden of Eden". The outcome is truly remarkable—a stunning landscape adorned with exotic flora and fauna, exhibiting an immense spectrum of colors. We are deeply moved by the results and hold this collaboration close to our hearts.

I always had a great love for the old Persian Tabriz carpets where the Paradise Garden was often a central theme. We therefore had the idea of creating a “New Garden of Eden” for quite some time. When I met Jeanne and was able to admire her beautiful illustrations and work, I knew she was the right designer to create a new modern interpretation of the Garden of Eden. The design circulates in different directions. There is a surface and a depth, a verticality in which the patterns of the different elements are built up. It is a poetic yet realistic, daydream-like vision of nature. Nature observed, transformed into a feeling, transformed into a graphic response. A nature that is not always so calm, where not everything is harmonious but sometimes surprisingly in order. A nature that is not always reassuring, but where you can still find peace. Room for silent admiration. Something that we are a part of and that we are still looking to belong to.

The design seamlessly merges two worlds — traditional Persian themes and motifs are presented in an exceptionally contemporary form and unique style. With its substantial dimensions of 370 x 270, it exudes tremendous power—a burst of color, a revelation, an experience.
